Start with the guide for your desktop browser, install Shieldly from the linked store listing and review the requested permissions. Open the extension in the profile you intend to protect, check the active mode and reload a regular website. Browser-owned pages and store pages have restrictions, so they are not representative tests of filtering.
Use tracker blocking for supported background tracking requests, pop-up controls for unwanted overlays and consent handling for supported banner interactions. These features have different jobs. Hiding an overlay does not itself prove that a website rejected optional cookies or stopped processing data.
If a form or player breaks, repeat the failing action after a narrow site-specific adjustment. Compatibility, Balanced and Strict are protection modes; optional Advanced features have a separate activation state. Change one setting at a time and avoid switching protection off everywhere to solve an issue on one website.
YouTube filtering and Netflix Assist target supported browser behavior and can be affected by service changes. Netflix Assist is a beta feature, not a subscription replacement. WebRTC protection does not replace a VPN, and no ad blocker can promise anonymity or universal coverage.
Review old exceptions periodically, create a settings backup before moving profiles and inspect a diagnostic report before sharing it. Local settings and counters are useful context, but blocked requests and hidden elements are different events. Describe the actual page behavior when asking for help.
