Reduce intrusive prompts
Pop-ups and overlays can cover content, interrupt reading and make pages harder to use. Shieldly includes optional page distraction cleanup designed to reduce common interruptions while preserving site usability.
Control by website
Some websites need overlays for sign-in, checkout or consent. Shieldly's per-site controls let you pause protection or adjust modes for a single domain without turning off the extension globally.
Part of layered blocking
Pop-up blocking works best alongside ad blocking, tracker blocking and cosmetic cleanup. Shieldly combines these layers in a simple Chrome extension interface.
Identify the kind of interruption
People use pop-up to describe several different things: a new browser window, an overlay covering an article, a newsletter prompt or a deceptive redirect. Shieldly's pop-up module targets supported page interruptions, while browser settings and SafeClick address related behaviors. Identify which surface you are seeing before choosing a control. A dialog opened intentionally for login or payment is different from a promotional overlay that repeatedly appears while reading.
Restore a dialog you actually need
If a useful modal disappears or its button no longer works, test the site with the relevant module adjusted and reload. Keep the change limited to that website when possible. Check the same action again rather than merely checking that the homepage loads. A successful repair should restore the required dialog without introducing unrelated configuration changes. Record the trigger, such as scrolling, clicking subscribe or starting checkout, in any report.
What hiding an overlay does not establish
Removing a visible interruption does not prove that the underlying website stopped processing data or that a subscription was cancelled. A consent decision, browser notification permission and account preference are separate settings. Review those controls directly when they matter. Optional Advanced modules also depend on the activation state shown in your installation; an unavailable toggle should not be mistaken for a browser rendering bug.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep a site's login pop-up?
Use a narrow compatibility adjustment or site exception and test the login flow again. Avoid treating every dialog on a site as advertising.
Will this revoke notification permission?
Hiding a page prompt is not the same as changing browser notification permissions. Review permissions in the browser when you need to revoke access.
