Summary
Shieldly does not sell personal information, does not create advertising profiles, and is designed not to upload your browsing history to Shieldly servers. Core settings and extension statistics are stored locally in your browser using Chrome storage.
Information We Do Not Collect
Shieldly does not require an account and does not intentionally collect your name, email address, payment information, precise location, browsing history, search history, page content, personal communications, allowlists, custom domains, local statistics, diagnostics, site modes, SafeClick analysis or extension settings.
Information Stored Locally
The extension may store configuration data on your device, including protection mode, per-site preferences, allowlists, custom blocked domains, pause settings, cleanup preferences, local diagnostics, regional filter state, WebRTC policy state and local statistics such as blocked item counts. This information is used to make the extension work and to remember your choices.
How Shieldly Uses Browser Permissions
Shieldly may request Chrome permissions needed to block ads and trackers, apply page cleanup, manage per-site controls, and store your preferences. These permissions are used for extension functionality and not for selling data, cross-site advertising, or user profiling.
SafeClick and Diagnostics
SafeClick analysis is designed to run locally while a page is open. Local diagnostics and support reports are intended to help users troubleshoot extension state, rulesets, WebRTC policy state and site modes without uploading browsing history to Shieldly servers.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Shieldly uses extension data only to provide and improve its disclosed single purpose: blocking ads, trackers and page distractions in Chrome. Shieldly does not use extension data for advertising, does not sell extension data, and does not transfer extension data for unrelated purposes.
Remote Requests and Filter Updates
The extension may use browser-provided extension APIs and may retrieve rule or filter updates when needed to keep blocking behavior current. These requests are intended to support protection features and are not used to build a personal browsing profile.
Third-Party Services
Shieldly is distributed through the Chrome Web Store, which is operated by Google. Your use of Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, and third-party websites is governed by their own privacy policies.
Data Sharing
Shieldly does not sell or rent personal information. We may disclose information only if required by law, to protect rights and security, or as part of a business transfer where this policy continues to apply to the information covered by it.
Your Choices
You can change Shieldly settings in the extension, remove per-site rules, clear extension data through Chrome, or uninstall the extension at any time. Uninstalling the extension removes extension functionality and may remove locally stored extension data depending on Chrome behavior.
Children's Privacy
Shieldly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Shieldly after a policy update means the updated policy applies.
