Control one site without turning everything off
Some pages need different handling. Shieldly is designed so you can pause protection, allow ads or tune rules for a specific site while keeping global protection active elsewhere.
Protection modes
Compatibility, Balanced and Strict style modes help you choose between site compatibility and stronger cleanup. That matters for banking, checkout, login pages and interactive tools.
Useful for troubleshooting
If a page looks broken, per-site controls help you test changes quickly. You can reduce protection temporarily, refresh the page and return to normal blocking when finished.
Choose between a temporary test and a lasting exception
When a page breaks, first decide whether you are diagnosing a temporary problem or intentionally allowing the site. A pause can help compare behavior; a saved site exception is a longer-lived choice. Use the narrowest change that lets you complete the task, then reload the page. Verify the visible site status afterward so that a troubleshooting step does not accidentally become your everyday browsing configuration.
Test the action, not just the homepage
A site's front page can load correctly while a checkout, embedded player or sign-in flow fails. Repeat the exact action that exposed the issue after changing the protection mode. Note whether the action moves to another hostname, because one website experience can involve several domains. Avoid allowing unrelated domains in bulk. If Compatibility resolves the problem, keep that context in your report so the failing filter can be investigated.
Maintain your allowlist over time
Review allowed sites and per-site modes in the settings page. Remove entries you no longer recognize or need, then check those sites again with your normal configuration. Export a backup before a larger cleanup if you need a way to restore the previous settings. Site controls belong to the browser profile where they were configured; opening a different profile is not a reliable way to confirm the state of the original one.
Frequently asked questions
Does allowing one site disable Shieldly everywhere?
A site-specific exception is intended to affect that site. Check the global protection switch separately and confirm the current page status.
Why is a login still broken after allowing the page?
The flow may depend on another domain or a different browser protection. Record the failing step and compare one layer at a time.
