SafeClick protection for fake buttons and redirect traps.

SafeClick is an advanced Shieldly feature designed to reduce deceptive page interactions such as fake buttons, redirects and alert traps.

Reduce deceptive click targets

Some pages use fake download buttons, misleading overlays, forced redirects and alert-style traps to push users away from the content they wanted. SafeClick is designed to reduce those high-friction patterns in Chrome.

Part of advanced protection

SafeClick works alongside ad blocking, tracker blocking, pop-up blocking and page distraction cleanup. It is useful on pages where normal ad blocking is not enough to keep the experience calm.

Control stays with you

Because some websites depend on custom interactions, Shieldly keeps SafeClick behind clear controls and per-site settings so you can adjust behavior when a trusted site needs it.

Recognize the interactions SafeClick targets

Some pages imitate download buttons, place deceptive overlays above useful controls or turn a normal click into an unexpected redirect. SafeClick is intended to reduce supported fake-button, redirect and alert-trap behavior. The context of the interaction matters: a new window is not always unwanted, and a convincing-looking page is not always trustworthy. Treat this feature as assistance with specific behaviors, not a verdict on every website you visit.

Inspect a false positive before adding exceptions

If an expected link stops working, record which button you clicked and where you expected it to lead. Try a narrow compatibility adjustment and repeat that action after reloading. Check the SafeClick report or learned-redirect entries when available to see whether the interaction was recorded. Remove a learned entry only when you understand why it no longer fits; clearing every entry can discard useful local context without explaining the original failure.

Keep destination checks separate

Blocking a deceptive interaction cannot guarantee the safety of a downloaded file or the legitimacy of an account sign-in page. Verify the destination and use the browser's normal security protections. When sharing a report, strip sensitive query parameters and account details from URLs. Describe both the visible button and the observed redirect so the report explains the behavior instead of relying only on a domain name.

Frequently asked questions

Is every learned redirect domain malicious?

A local detection is diagnostic context, not a universal reputation judgment. Review the associated behavior and consider false positives before drawing a conclusion.

Is SafeClick an antivirus scanner?

No. It targets supported browser interactions and does not replace file scanning or other device security controls.
